exploring, preserving: past, present

Grandma’s Pillows

My mother’s mother was a very crafty lady. I’ve blogged about her stitchery with birds and fruit on tea towels before, but tonight I want to share the kind of stitchery she would do with pillows.

Though this is clearly not to scale, it is another example of her picturing something in her mind and stitching it as she saw it.

This pillow cover is my favourite one, because it also reminds me of the roses she kept in her garden. It turns out that my husband’s grandmother (mother’s side) was just as crafty. We received some early Christmas gifts this weekend from her, and I’m looking forward to sharing pictures of her work with you too.
