My ancestors came to Canada over a century ago. They set up homesteads in Manitoba, surviving harsh winters and challenging times. Throughout their time together, they were forced of necessity to learn many skills. Though those skills were at first strictly utilitarian and for survival – cooking, preserving, crafting, gardening, building, hunting, farming, teaching – many of them became art forms.
This blog is about exploring the art(s) of my ancestors. It is my attempt to learn, to preserve past art forms, to celebrate my family history, and to share this exploration with you.
